Our History
In 1980 the Hedweld business commenced under a sole trader arrangement by Ian Hedley.
Hedweld was initially involved in providing repair and maintenance services to the Hunter Valley mining industry. These were the days where you could drive your ute into the mine site and park next to a truck with your welding gear on the back.
The first Trilift® Variable Work Table was built in 1986 and supplied to RW Miller Mine (it is still in use today at Mt Thorley Warkworth Mine). This was the first Trilift® product developed, tested and brought to market, to provide for the improved maintenance handling of components on large earthmoving trucks.
The first Safe-Away® Access System was built in 1995 and supplied to RW Miller Mine (now Mt Thorley Warkworth Mine) for a water truck. It seems hard to believe that even today many OEMs provide chain or fixed access to their large mining vehicles. Hedweld with it’s Safe-Away® product range were the first to develop these improved access systems and remain world leaders in this field.
