Hedweld’s New Advanced Manufacturing Facility Opening

Hedweld new facilities from above

The Hedweld Group of Companies are officially opening their new Advanced Manufacturing Facility on Wednesday 7 September at Thrift Close, Mt Thorley, NSW. The new facility houses the latest in advanced manufacturing technology that includes cutting edge CNC machinery and robotics. Some of these technologies are not only the first in Australia but first in the world.

Community members are welcome to tour the facility on the Open Day on Thursday 8 September from 9am-3pm.

In May 2015, Hedweld were awarded a Commonwealth Government Manufacturing Transition Program grant that equated to 25% of their $8 million expansion.  Hedweld’s investment in this new Advanced Manufacturing facility, in the Hunter Valley, will deliver opportunities for the Hunter Region.

Hedweld have been manufacturing world leading innovations for the mining sector for over 36 years and this new ‘state of the art’ facility is an expansion and diversification of our current business. Hedweld has been successful as an innovator and exporter being a finalist in the Prime Ministers Australian Export Awards in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015.

The expansion will enable Hedweld to continue innovating and offer advanced manufacturing services to, and collaborate with, other Australian businesses, research organisations and government – producing their high volume products locally, to maintain globally competitiveness. The new facility has already created skilled job opportunities desperately needed in the Hunter Valley, which is still recovering from the mining downturn.

This expansion is an important investment for Australian manufacturing and a big boost to the Hunter Valley region’s capabilities.
