Role and Responsibilities – Summary

Efficiently and effectively program and operate machinery, ensuring components are processed in line with production requirements, with the key objective being to achieve goals and objectives of the Hedweld Group Strategic business plan by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Human Resources

  • Maintain a positive team atmosphere and establish a good working relationship with all other staff members.
  • Liaise with supervisor(s) and staff to ensure tasks are completed within cost, on time and to acceptable standard.
  • Participate in any further education and upgrading of skills required for oneself and other team members through any courses that relate to your/their responsibilities.
  • Actively participate in any team meetings relating to the operation and produce accurate information pertaining to the meeting

Production

  • Ensure Parts are manufactured or processed in accordance specifications, quality requirements & production output targets
  • Efficiently and effectively operate and program CNC and automated machinery
  • Adjust and setting CNC/Automated machinery to specifications
  • Assist management with quality assurance and any concerns/problems and resolutions
  • Assist when required to train new personnel on operating machinery & equipment
  • Maintain machinery and equipment and associated components
  • Identify and segregate non-conforming products
  • Stop the process and notify the supervisor of any quality issues
  • Sign off as complete operations on work orders
  • Operate machines and process work as instructed by supervisor/management
  • Liaises with production personnel, supervisors and management in the manufacturing or building of products
  • Assist planning and development of test programs specific to CNC and automated machinery.
  • Assist in implementing and maintain processes that will improve the efficiency and output of the Hedweld Business with a high focus on Automated Processes and Robotics
  • Processing, packing and preparing product for dispatch.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Computer literate (Intermediate advantageous)
  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Willing to listen and learn advanced manufacturing techniques
  • Worked in manufacturing industry

Preferred Requirements

  • CNC/Automation operating experience
  • Forklift License
  • Overhead crane competence

  • Ensures housekeeping is of a high standard.
  • Keeps tools and machinery effectively maintained.
  • Be responsible for the security of tools and equipment associated with the function.

  • Brake & Pan Brake press operation experience (CNC)
  • MIG & TIG welding experience
  • Sheet metal forming & fabrication in Mild steel, Stainless steel and Aluminium (Preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literate
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Able to work effectively both as part of a team or autonomously
  • A current driver’s license

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES – SUMMARY

Keeps working areas of production departments in clean and orderly condition. Distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within establishments. Drives truck/utilities and/or automobile over established routes to deliver products.

Ensuring at all times duties are in line with the key objective being to achieve goals and objectives of the Hedweld Group Strategic business plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists Trades personnel where required
  • Transports raw materials and semi-finished products or supplies between departments or buildings to supply operators with materials for processing.
  • Transports finished products to customers or to other designated locations
  • Inspects work site to determine presence of obstructions or dangers and to avoid interfering with personal safety or activities of other workers.
  • Arranges boxes, materials or other industrial equipment in neat and orderly manner.
  • Cleans floors and other relevant areas.
  • Picks up reusable scrap for salvage and stores in correct locations.
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Picks up refuse from plant grounds and maintains area by cutting grass etc.
  • Operates forklift truck or crane to transport materials within plant.
  • Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
  • Suitably packs products for shipping or other transport.
  • Undertakes general maintenance of buildings and grounds when required.
  • Performs other routine duties.

Installs repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as ladders, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics & electrical parts, production machines and equipment with the key objective being to achieve goals and objectives of the Hedweld Group Strategic business plan.

  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Reassembles parts.
  • Paints machines or equipment when required.
  • Directs cleaning, storing, and issuing of reclaimed parts.
  • Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.
  • Maintains records of repairs and tests.
  • Prepares mechanical condition reports and estimates repair times.
  • Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
  • Repairs low voltage electrical equipment.
  • Assists Mechanical Engineer to modify sketches or computer-generated designs of machine components such as hydraulic system and drive mechanism.
  • Observes employees and contractors to ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Adheres to the companies quality management system.
  • Cost effectively performs general installation, repair and modifications to fluid power systems in a timely manner.
  • Analyses and resolves any issues with fluid power systems and recommends solutions.
  • Ensures all fluid power documentation and schematics drawings are up to date.
  • Ensures company vehicles are regularly serviced, registered and maintained.
  • Perform onsite commissioning work.
  • Investigates warranty issues and resolves in the best interest of the customer and supplier.
  • Be proactive in advising management of issues affecting this position.
  • Follows safe working procedures and practices.

  • Site work experience (preferably in mining/heavy vehicle sector)
  • Microsoft Suite – Basic (Word/EXCEL/Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A current driver’s license

  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot LV electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems including drawing / schematic interpretation
